Today I take a step back in time and visit the realms of the Ottoman Empire. Noozara, a city of the Ottoman Empire, is a roleplay area offering adventures around the 15th century, with plenty of places to see and explore. I arrive on an old galleon at the dockside and find myself in a medieval market square.

There are many stalls selling market produce and livestock, along with plenty of interesting places to visit. The tower on the dockside is particularly impressive, but what immediately catches your eye is the huge Ottoman Palace behind the market area. Inside the courtyard, you will find an abundance of palm trees and the impressive palace building itself. The tiles and ornate architecture might not conform entirely to the famous Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, but then this could easily be one of the Ottoman Empire’s Arabian jewels in some far off distant land.

The inside of the palace is even more impressive. Walking past the Ottoman guards, I find myself inside the palace, where the beautiful entrance hall and fountain are a work of art. The corridors and walkways are beautifully decorated in Ottoman style, with lighting that aesthetically enhances the experience. There are furnished rooms, lavish decorations and seating areas that are a testament to the creator, Nojan Omar, who has clearly put a great deal of effort into this amazing region.

Visitors should take their time to explore the palace rooms and appreciate the exquisite décor and attention to detail. It is very easy to see why this region would be an ideal roleplay experience, particularly if there were enough active OpenSim members to support it. The inside of this palace looks and feels genuinely Ottoman, rich in detail and carefully designed. It is definitely a must visit for those who love history.

Of course, a build like this is about much more than history. It is ideal for photography as well as roleplay and those that love architecture. The lavish rooms upstairs should not be missed. The beautifully screened areas and numerous vantage points create an extensive labyrinth, adding to the mystery and atmosphere of an Ottoman palace where a sultan could have enjoyed a life of luxury.

This is Middle Eastern architecture at its best. The mosque is particularly well made, with prayer mats and authentic interiors. The many fine buildings around the palace were most probably intended for dignitaries and important traders who support the sultan. There is also a luxurious hamam, or Turkish bath, beside the mosque, along with what appears to be a garrison building for the Sultan’s troops.

This region should be explored on foot. It takes time to walk around and appreciate everything it has to offer, but you will be rewarded with some of the most spectacular interiors in OpenSim. Noozara RP Ottoman Empire has become one of my growing list of favourites, a place where you can simply lose yourself in the atmosphere, history and creativity that have been presented here.
