VWZ Art Gallery is a beautifully designed region created by Avia Bonne. From the moment you arrive, it is clear that you have stepped into a carefully crafted artistic environment. The striking modern art building contains an information board explaining that the gallery presents a collection of artwork from a number of OpenSim members, with creations ranging from traditional real-life paintings to artwork created using artificial intelligence. The aim of the museum is to showcase the diversity of art within OpenSim, and it certainly succeeds in presenting a varied and interesting collection.
Inside the modern building, a central seating area is surrounded by statues and information about creating art using AI. To the right of the main collection are a series of black and white images by Hella Yver ( Nadej Dae ), who also has a Flickr account where more of her artwork can be viewed. Cherry Manga Are is also represented on this side of the gallery, with a unique collection depicting both real and imaginary creatures, all presented in clothing. Further collections by Andron Rae and Dale Innis can be found on the opposite side of the hall.
Towards the rear of the gallery there is a Covid memorial, along with real pencil drawings of people and colourful fantasy artwork. Avia Bonne has her own collection upstairs, featuring a talented selection of acrylic paintings alongside AI-generated material. With such a broad range of styles and techniques on display, there is plenty to discover throughout the gallery.
The museum itself is surrounded by a large, partially submerged timepiece and an artistic, cleverly designed landscape that complements the building perfectly. The gallery sits at the heart of this imaginative environment, creating a setting that feels like an extension of the artwork itself.
This is a G-rated region on Virtual Worlds Zone, also known as the Virtual Grid. I have most definitely missed some of the artists whose work is featured here, so I offer my apologies to anyone I have not mentioned. However, I would certainly recommend VWZ Art Gallery to anyone interested in art who simply wants to wander through the collections, take in the surroundings and admire the wide variety of work on offer.
